100th Post means 100 Words

Define “learning” in 100 words or less.

It’s funny how life works out. This is my 100th blog post on this site and this weeks topic for #YourEduStory requires 100 words. Instead of writing a paragraph I thought I would just do a stream of consciousness list of what comes to mind when I think of learning.  So without further ado here you go.

Learning is:

Fun
Messy
Full of failure
Exciting
Physically Challenging
Mentally Challenging
Rewarding
Worth the struggle.
Personal
Collaborative
Motivating
Connected
A never ending process
Different for everyone
Accomplishing a goal
Reading
Experiencing
Compare and Contrasting situations
Dynamic not Static
Doing
Necessary to survive
Constantly evolving
Different than it was when I was a kid.
Will be different for my daughter when she grows up.
Different for every person
A daily occurrence
Scary
Loud
Inspiring
A family affair
Involves taking risks
Requires you to step out of your comfort zone and engage in activities that make you uncomfortable
Demanding
Driven by passion to succeed

  1. Ryan, the word “scary” jumps out at me. Learning for students can be especially scary. They have to try new things, often times with skills they are not confident with. As teachers, we need to make students feel at ease with taking risks and encourage them when they are not feeling confident. Thank you for sharing.
