A few years ago Smart Boards were cutting edge. The ability to touch and draw on digital images or websites was revolutionary. I still remember how big of a deal it was when I first saw one. I didn’t need a mouse to navigate the web! I could annotate on top of an image or student work sample! Amazing! I don’t care how much it is….I want one!
Fast forward to 2014 and almost everything that you used to be able to do with a Smart Board you can do with an iPad. Need to annotate an image or document? Download Skitch. Need to navigate the web by touch? Scroll with your fingers. Need to record your whiteboard for a video lesson? Try Educreations. So again I pose the question “Do we still need smart boards?” Feel free to add your thoughts in the comments below.
